it has almost been 3 weeks since i last touched this place (thanks for reminding, lol)common tests was ok...and a good thing that i fell sick during the CTs period. Thank God for that. After which when i recovered, I was in the pink of health, to enjoy my penang trip from 3rd - 6th July! (of which i didn't need to worry that i may/would fall sick) Was blessed with much for my entire trip & weather/timings/events was brilliant and exceptionally good during my 4 days stay there!
Yeah I know that my memory (retention rate) is quite bad so I'll try to blog on my trip if I can find time to do so, of which at this point I'm already trying to rmb and trace the towns where I went in Pulau Pinang.
So that will be reserved for later (or never). HAH.
Came across this video which meaningful brought across the message of thier theme 'Family' (& also well filmed considering Singapore is noob at filming) and it was commissioned by the MCYS.
Well, later on I found out that it was directed by an acclaimed Malaysian director called Yasmin Ahmad (no wonder its better than the typical SG production HAH)
Of which, I searched her name in youtube and found some other Malaysia related adverts. Im not sure if she's the one that directed it but it is still, another truly meaningful one, of which it is an advertisement which is commissioned by Petronas.
Can what we build today bring us into tomorrow?
The italiced red words above is just but a superficial point to bring home (which is the objective of the adv).
If you were to think a little bit deeper (allow me to rewind and summarize)
This malay man is a skillful boat builder and he's poor and in debt. Hence here comes the government (tuan haji) who always help malays by giving contracts (building the boat). We even see the tuan haji gives (and deliver!) free engine n tools (subsidies) to help man out. Yet, this man does a cheap job, instead of making a brand new boat, he salvages stuff from an old and broken sampan wreck, thinking that since this was his last project before he resigns.
Little did he know that his boss is asking him to build a boat FOR HIMSELF to survive and make a living of his own. He has, literally stabbed himself in his foot. In all that we do, we do it with pride and utmost effort. All or nothing. This highlights a downfall of a slip-shod attitude, which eventually has done himself in. It is a lesson not just for him, but for all of us too. If he had known from the start that it was for himself, would he have resorted to a cut-cost, unethical and slip-shod attitude in building the sampan? Obviously, no.
